After a successful CivVic campaign that led to a record number of applicants, and a competitive selection process resulting in 10 amazing startups being selected for our challenge with VicHealth, I flipped to working with the Alice Anderson team on our female founder pipeline. The Alice Anderson Fund supports Victorian female founders in a way that no other investment team I have come across does - legitimate funding opportunities for amazing female founders / founding teams with female co-founders to drive impact and innovation within Victoria. To learn more, email the team direct at [email protected] I started working with LaunchVic over on their CivVic Labs program. This meant chatting to founders and awesome teams from across the Victorian startup sector to foster engagement and support and to inform and encourage victorian startups into Launch Vic's grants, programs and exciting initiatives. In doing this, I have had the privilege of learning from the inside the passion the LV team have for Victorian startups and founders, and seeing first hand the HUGE impact LV have on the startup ecosystem. There is hardly an accelerator or industry sector we don't touch here in Victoria, be it via funding, support, the teams time and energy, or our advocating and policy work.

My project working on awesome projects with awesome people has come to an end. I am forever grateful for my time with Judy Anderson-Firth and Dom Pym. Asking to be their (highly experienced (ex-GM & CoS)) intern to learn about family offices from the inside was a great experience. We joked often about my previous experience and what leads me to ask for an internship after roles like that. And the answer is simple - access to growth and learning opportunities, and the chance to work with awesome people.I am so fortunate to be in a position that this year, 2023, is all about just that - growth! My top three take aways from interning at Euphemia are:1 - What you measure is how you determine value and success. Be more like Dom and value your success by how many staff are celebrating their anniversaries with you, be that 2 years, or 10 (and there are a lot of 10's in Dom's world). He also thinks about #'s of marriages, babies, houses bought and more - it is the people and how they have grown together that make him tick!2 - Put your money where your mouth is. Judy and Dom are passionate about balancing the ledger via investing in female and under-represented founders, and they have deployed in these areas, both direct, indirect and into funds.3 - There is a massive opportunity for Australian startups to benefit from the vast skills and experiences of Angel and Family Office investment. And as the next generation or two of Aussie startups realise exits, there is no better time for Euphemia to emerge, to open source the family office scene for the next generation of Aussie innovators and Angels.
