ESG Intern
-
Dec 2022 - Jun 2023
Working at a Fintech has helped me expand on the knowledge gained from my degree. I research and map the current and evolving regulations surrounding ESG and Sustainable Investing in Europe and the UK to properly advise clients and to update the company’s platform. I have had to think critically and analytically to identify where these regulations contradicted or ran parallel with each other. I have had to develop my technical skills and IT literacy, becoming competent in Excel, PowerPoint and Word. I have also worked on an RFI from a Private Bank to ensure that the Vestrata platform can cater to the client’s requirements. I work this internship whilst also working as a Team Leader at a Cooperative Food Store. This requires me to manage my time efficiently and maintain a strong level of motivation.

Team Leader

Sep 2022 - Jun 2023
As a key holder, I am often responsible for opening and closing the store independently, including the end-of-day cashing-up procedure which involves strong attention to detail and numeracy skills. I supervise my team to ensure the tasks I have delegated have been executed properly. I manage stock records, product reductions and our weekly deliveries. This requires constant auditing to ensure our suppliers are aware of what is needed to maximise sales and minimise waste.Providing consistently high levels of customer service ensuring every customer has a positive experience through strong communication. Maintaining high standards throughout the store through considered visual merchandising ensuring the brand is always presented in the best manner. Training new members of staff to ensure their learning and development is up to the standard of my team.

This role required discipline and organisation as I balanced my shifts with my university workload and extracurricular activities. These roles demanded teamwork, the ability to adapt and work under pressure and to ensure that excellent customer service was provided. Due to the international nature of the university my bar work required me to accommodate students from many different cultures and backgrounds who may be less familiar with English culture and ensure they were properly attended to. Operating a Challenge 25 policy consistently in compliance with laws regarding the selling of alcohol. Linked to this, ensuring document checks were always up to date and signed by all members of staff.
