Alex Feldman is a Managing Director at U3 Advisors. Passionate about cities, Alex has led a number of the firm's engagement providing expertise in strategic planning, economic development, campus edge planning, and real estate strategy since joining U3 Advisors in 2009. Alex has served as a project manager for U3 Advisor's work in Midtown Detroit. Working with key philanthropic and civic stakeholders and 3 major anchor institutions, U3 created and implemented a successful "Anchor Strategy" that leveraged the demand of the institutions into economic development and placemaking initiatives. As part of that effort, Alex helped lead the design and implementation of the $5M Live Midtown employee housing incentive program - which has attracted over 1,200 new residents to Midtown Detroit, the Source Detroit local procurement program, and the formation of the community development organization, Midtown Detroit Inc. Alex has translated the lessons from Detroit into another successful anchor strategy in Memphis, TN. Since 2014, Alex has worked with local philanthropy and the leadership from 8 anchor institutions in the Memphis Medical District to design and implement strategies and initiatives aimed at increasing the economic and physical vitality of the district. This included the formation and launch of the non-profit community development organization, the Memphis Medical District Collaborative, which is working with its anchor partners to strengthen the communities in the Memphis Medical District so that they are more livable, vibrant, and safe.Alex has worked with U3 on a number of engagements across the United States and abroad including the vision and implementation plan for a new binational university in Chula Vista, CA, a neighborhood regeneration strategy for the American University of Beirut, and the implementation of key campus edge developments for the Terrapin Development Company at the University of Maryland, College Park.
