As a founding member of MSCTR I helped define the mission/vision of the organization. I was responsible for establishing the company’s R&D roadmap, setting performance goals and making strategic decisions. • Managed the research budget of the organization leading to over 35 research publications and 12 patent filings• Recruited and supervised the core team of scientists and mentored start-ups in the biotech/healthcare space• Partnered with Strand Life Sciences towards developing “Strand LB Portfolio”, a product suite of genetic tests using liquid biopsy aimed towards cancer patients• Interfaced with clinicians in Narayana Health hospitals to understand unmet clinical needs and how we could design our research programs to be more translational in nature (‘bench-to-bedside’ paradigm)• Oversaw efforts to attract extramural research funding from industry and government agencies • Responsible for commercialization of scientific discoveries arising from MSCTR and alliance management for the organization with both academia and industry• Collaborated with start-ups in diverse areas like regenerative medicine, 3D printing, personalized medicine and assay and diagnostics development• Served as a reviewer for scientific journals (Science Advances, Biosensors, PLoS One etc.)

My primary research focused on the biology of bone regeneration. This entailed performing pre-clinical studies that worked at both ends of the spectrum, the clinical level and the fundamental molecular level. The several strands that tied my research together were:• Developing a novel transgenic mouse model to elucidate the etiology of non-union fractures• Establishing the efficacy of MRL/MpJ mouse as a model for mammalian bone regeneration• Developing biomaterials-based tissue-engineered systems for orthopedic applications• Collaborated with orthopedic surgeons at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine to better understand how we could bridge the gap between fundamental research and better clinical outcomes• Served as reviewer in the Interdisciplinary Grant Program of the university to provide research funding to promising early-stage projects
