Project Topic: Development of biologically active hydrocarbon compounds, with targeted delivery (NDA enforced)- Successful product development using an array of analytical chemical techniques, requiring: collaboration, funding acquisition, protocol development, data analysis and QC- Acquiring and setting up safe organized and efficient lab space (including the initial purchasing and analyzing of the Lab equipment)- Setting up purchase and accounts for chemicals (proper MSDS, and equipment specific training) and equipment, with respect to lab and building regulations- Protocol development and subsequent training/supervision of lab staff- Uphold best lab practices by development and implementation of QC and SOPs- Testing substrate/product quality by conducting MS/GC- Collaboration with other labs for acquiring most efficient use of the equipment- Introduction of novel scientific techniques to increase efficiency of the pre-clinical phase- Responsible for the management of lab inventory, such as sample retention and forecasting project consumables (and the ordering of the same thereafter)- Collaboration with various funding institutions including the Government of Alberta, MITACS, Futurpreneur etc. - Establishing a strong working relationship with the department of Agriculture (University of Alberta), for pilot testing and lyophilizing the final product
