    Responsible to the Team leader for accurate monitoring and efficient control of the Real time power via computer system, distribution network, supervise safety procedures in accordance with EFL safety regulations. The position is also accountable for implementing proper system control practices and adopting standard operating rules when roster on shift. Key Responsibilities• Ensure that internal discipline exists on all the shifts;• Monitor the staff movement during normal work hours and ensure the security of the property;• Ensure that the system controllers are complying with operational standards; • Ensure that all programmed works are carried out within the time guidelines set;• Supervise the starting and stopping of diesel generator sets at power stations;• Monitor load distribution of generator sets;• Ensure that the Generation Dispatch plan is achieved as per EFL management requirement • Carry out sectionalized switching for fault finding and power restoration in regards to Unscheduled Power Outages;• Map out strategies to restore power supply during Unscheduled Power Outages;• Coordinate and suggest to Production and Network personnel’s regarding manpower locations prior to natural disasters;• Monitor system load, Voltage, power flow readings to establish system performance by utilizing data’s on SCADA; • Calculate for safe and secure load transfers between HV feeders and log down and action any abnormality in the system and submit relevant reports;• Ensure compliance to HSE requirements;• Carry out any other delegated duties assigned by the Team Leader Systems Operations.

    Providing emergency response services in times of Natural Disasters (TC Winston) with repairs to the FEA power infrastructure that had sustained extensive damage from the onslaught of TC Winston continue in most parts of Fiji where there was FEA power reticulationOther key responsibilities include (but not limited to); Control the loading of generating sets over which he has direct control in order to ensure efficient operation of the units. Issue instructions to station operators by telephone or radiotelephone for the production of energy and subsequent distribution to lines on basis of load, equipment availability, and inter-connections with other power stations within grid. Re-distribute load, direct switching and make other arrangements to maintain service in emergencies. Notify proper authorities of conditions needing their attention. Keep and maintain records of normal and emergency operation performed during a period of duty. Perform calculations, tests, and readings, adjusting of instruments and recording of observations to establish, regulate and /or optimize system performance as directed. Ensure that system and plant changes are recorded and preliminary drawing/amendments produce and forwarded to the drawing office Co-ordinate with other work units in the Authority for the successful completion of work. Prepare and submit regular, operation, fault, commissioning and special reports as and when required. Attend to FEA consumer queries and notify appropriate department for action. Perform other work –related duties consistent with responsibilities assigned to the position and be prepared to do shift work and carry out standby duties.

  • Electrical Technician Substation

     Carry out and repair and maintenance of zone substation equipment including power transformers, on-load tap changers, potential transformers, current transformers, surge arresters, Extra High Voltage (EHV 132kV) high voltage (HV 33kV, 11kV, 6.6kV and 3.3kV) circuit breakers and switchgear, Direct Current (DC) Systems, battery and charger systems 415V/240V Alternating Current (AC) Systems and telemetry equipment; Ensure all test conducted in accordance to manufacturers specification and procedures and are results recorded and digitized for archiving; Prepare individual Daily Work Plans; Perform journey-level electrical work using electrical equipment and instruments to locate and repair circuit and repair defects; Carries out Monthly inspection of substation and reports with concluded recommendations and remedial works. Takes responsibility, accountabilities and plans to carry out repairs immediately; Takes readings on substation equipment’s, run tests for contaminates; Take out Permit to Work on high voltage equipment, and ensure all completed PTW forms are returned to the National Control Centre promptly; Carry out switching on Low and High Voltage equipment, ensure all test are analyzed and plants are energized in accordance to the minimum standards settings/results; Supervise Construction work on transformers, switchgear, pillar boxes; Supervise construction work on HV and LV switchgear and transformers in kiosk, underground, pad mount and pole-mounted transformers and auto - recloses; Supervise workmen in the installation of poles, cross arms, and other line hardware; Perform other work related duties consistent with the responsibilities assigned to the position.
