Provide direction and daily management for an organization providing supply chain services to big box retailers and trading partners (Target, Walmart, Kmart, Costco, BJs, Source Interlink, etc.) generating over $600M in annual revenue, reporting directly to the CEO. Delegate through subordinate managers (Senior Vice President and Vice President) departmental responsibility for sales, purchasing, inventory, category management, field service merchandising, marketing, & supply chain.Selected Contributions:•Recruited by CEO to organize a new division, based in San Diego, CA, focused on the warehouse club segment. First year revenue enhancement was $55M (45% above initial business plan). •Member of the executive team, the strategic planning group developing the approach to the rapidly changing U.S. publishing supply chain marketplace. Collaborated in the development and deployment of new inventory management and reporting tools utilizing an offshore (Bangalore, India) process that saved over $500,000 in anticipated (budgeted) costs.•Promoted to EVP and relocated to Chicago home office in July ’07 to assist CEO in restructuring this entrepreneurial privately held book distribution company. Reorganized and reengineered all departments leading the organizational paradigm shift currently underway throughout Levy. •Significant improvement achieved in all key operating metrics (EBITA, Gross Margin, SG&A & Net Profit), reversing the previous business trends.

Recruited by AMS, a leading global provider of customized wholesale distribution services to book retailers and publishers in 1995 as VP, Marketing (Sales). Progressive responsibilities over time included: Sales, Merchandising (Purchasing & Product Development), Inventory, Advertising Services, International Subsidiaries, & Global Strategy. Selected Contributions: •As head of sales and sales strategy, led AMS’ revenue expansion from $250 Million to $1.1Billion.•Led the “Greenfield” start up for AMS into the UK in 1995. The UK operating unit grew to $100M in sales by 2002. Additional international subsidiary growth and responsibility included Mexico, Canada, Australia & Singapore. Total international sales contribution for AMS grew to $350M. •As member of the executive committee, responsible for the establishment and the coordination of AMS’ customer and supplier global supply chain strategies. Collaborated (with IT) on the successful conversion from existing legacy operating systems to both Oracle (data base) and Manhattan’s “PKMS” (warehouse management) platforms. •Led AMS’ efforts in establishing and implementing what became the “state of the art” vendor managed inventory software platform supporting the book distribution business at Costco, Sams, & BJs. •Developed a third party distribution business relationship with Amazon.com in 1998. •Reengineered AMS’ organizational structure from separate “siloed” departments into a homogeneous supply chain group, better serving suppliers and customers, while favorably improving SG&A costs by over 25%.•Responsible for building and maintaining the top-to-top relationships with senior management for both suppliers and customers. Negotiated all major terms of trade. •As member of the executive team, assisted in the go-to-market strategy and tactical engagements that lead to the eventual sale of the company in 2006.
