Overview

SUKA Society or Persatuan Kebajikan Suara Kanak-kanak Malaysia (SUKA) is a nationally registered non governmental organisation (ROS: 2504-10-SEL) set up to protect and to preserve the best interests of children. In 2015, SUKA Society received the United Nations Malaysia Award for promoting inclusive development. In 2018, SUKA Society was awarded the Star Golden Hearts Award for our work among the Orang Asli community. Our work among marginalised children focuses on the following projects – 1. Restoring trafficked women and children through our therapeutic, skill and education based programs at the government protection shelters. 2. Advocating for improved treatment of children affected by arrest and detention by initiating alternative to detention and case management programs. 3. Creating greater access to education for Orang Asli children by setting up community pre-schools in remote villages. SUKA Society actively produces handbooks, manuals and training programs in the area of case management, foster care, resilience and child protection. We have conducted training programs for NGOs, community groups and government officers both locally and within the region.
