University of Kent School of Economics

Higher Education

Overview

The School of Economics is a cosmopolitan and diverse academic and student community. We are committed to the highest quality education and world-leading research. Our teaching focuses on providing skills for the future and we deliver research that responds to societal challenges. At Kent you will learn from economists who are internationally recognised for their research, but who also take a practical approach to the subject. Many of our staff act as advisers and experts to UK and international agencies, including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank, European Central Bank, Bank of England, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, HM Treasury, and many others. We offer a range of undergraduate degrees, with the option to take a year in industry or to study abroad. You can also choose to combine Economics with other subjects such as Accounting, Management, Politics or Law. Our postgraduate offering includes six Master's programmes, which provide the opportunity to specialise in areas such as financial economics, econometrics or development, plus a two-year Economics Conversion Programme for those who have a first degree in a subject other than Economics. The School also offers two four-year PhD research programmes in Economics and Agri-Environmental Economics.
