Overview

Universify Education is a charity committed to countering educational inequality, supporting young people to realise their potential regardless of their background. We run a year-long programme for Year 10 students in the UK , who have the potential to succeed at a highly-selective university, but may be at risk of falling short of their potential. Our programme is free for attendees and involves a week-long summer course, monthly 1-1 academic coaching from undergraduate volunteers and a 3-day GCSE-focused spring residential. We start earlier than most outreach work to help grow the pool of viable applicants to highly-selective universities from non-traditional backgrounds. We focus on improving educational aspiration, boosting school attainment and maximising students’ application prospects. We staff our programme with current and recent undergraduate volunteers, who are central to helping us provide honest and exciting insights into what Higher Education has to offer our participants. We provide volunteers with the opportunity to build key skills in leadership and working with young people. You will receive training in how to coach, gain insights into careers in access and outreach, and make life-long friends and memories! It's a summer you won't forget! Universify was set up by the founders of Oxford Summer Courses, a BAC-accredited short course provider. They saw how transformative the summer school model could be and wanted to use that to benefit students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.
