Overview

The role of Surf Life Saving in the community is acknowledged by a vast majority of Australians - but we are much more than the red and yellow flags and volunteer beach patrols. Surf Life Saving delivers a wide array of community benefits including healthy lifestyle, leadership, mateship, volunteerism and a sense of belonging. Surf Clubs have become local community hubs right around Australia. Literally millions of Australians and overseas tourists directly interact with Surf Life Saving each year by using our charitable services - some realise this and some don't. Many do not give a second thought as to who sets up the red and yellow flags - the service is simply expected and as much a part of the Australian landscape as the beaches themselves. It is fair to say that most people know we are a worthy organisation and they can rely on the services we provide however very few truly understand that we are charity and are very much in need of public support. The role of the Surf Life Saving Foundation is to ensure the financial security and viability of the Surf Life Saving movement. There are a myriad of ways that individuals and organisations alike can support Surf Life Saving - from our Guardians of the Surf program, Workplace Giving, Legacy gifting, Corporate partnerships and Fundraising Events through to our House Lotteries and Trade promotions.
