      Formally established in 1930 Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is the state’s peak aquatic rescue authority and is one of the largest volunteer-based community service organisations in Australia. It is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising 58 affiliated surf life saving clubs in six regional branches and is directly affiliated with, and is part of, Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF). My role was to manage and enhance SLSQ’s finance, governance, risk management and information management systems to ensure the efficient and effective administration of SLSQ and affiliated clubs and branches including supporters’ clubs while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements.

      Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is Australia’s peak coastal water safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority. With 173,865 members and 314 affiliated Surf Life Saving clubs, SLSA represents the largest volunteer movement of its kind in the world. Responsibilities in this role included but were not limited to drafting and negotiation of hosting rights contracts and fees with government and clubs, site planning and construction, contractor and concession tendering, risk profiling, financial management through to a full range of logistics such as catering and licensing, transport and traffic planning, sanitation, work health and safety, security, emergency response capability and contingencies.
