DGPM is an organization under the Portuguese Ministry of the Economy and Maritime Affairs, that acts mainly at a strategic level. Our action on Blue Economy relies fundamentally on Policy matters, monitoring, financing, international cooperation and Ocean Literacy. DGPM's mission is to develop, evaluate and update the National Ocean Strategy; to elaborate and propose the national policy for the sea, to support the maritime spatial planning in its different uses and activities; to monitor and participate in the EU Integrated Maritime Policy; to promote national and international maritime cooperation; and to promote ocean literacy in the Portuguese society.
