Overview

The BLUEBIO ALLIANCE (BBA) is a non-profit Portuguese association, founded in Cascais in July 2015, representing all players in the marine bioresources and blue biotechological value chain. The core mission of the Association is to promote sinergies and the development the blue bioresources economic sector. It has over 170 members and it includes all subsectors of the marine bioresources value chain in Portugal. It ranges from raw material producers, R&D units, to biotech SMEs, transforming centers and manufacturers, public sector & governmental entities, as well as support companies and final consumer product’s developers. BBA’s focus is on collectively organizing this value chain, to foster its relations and dynamics, leveraging its SMEs growth and accelerating their internationalization by increasing their outreach and exportations, leading to more jobs and value creation for Portugal. Additionally, BBA is the national voice for the sector, interacting at the national governmental level for policy briefs and guidelines, at the central European level and science funding opportunities, while also operating at the global level to promote and internationalize the Portuguese Marine Bioresources and Blue Biotech sector.
