Inspired by Shay (IBS) is a Canadian consultancy founded by Shamima Nyamekye specifically for the purpose of providing peer mentoring and academic support to all students worldwide. It is an initiative birthed from a desire to change the nature of academic mentoring. We recognize that students want to talk to their fellow students who can relate to their struggles. Anyone can be successful in the pursuit of higher education, but some need a push. This ‘push’ is what IBS exists to facilitate. 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: To become one of the largest providers of career-education services in Sub-Saharan Africa; Making academic success available to everyone. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀: => Since our inception one year ago, we have provided academic and career-related support to 45+ students worldwide. => We have provided employment opportunity to 3 Ghanaian students. => We have assisted 40+ Ghanaian students make successful applications to their dream schools abroad in 2021. => We have assisted students with free cover letter templates and interview prep which have helped them secure jobs and internships. 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: => In 2021, a portion of IBS proceeds will go towards charitable causes like child education, fighting period poverty as well as donating to orphanages and other organizations across Ghana. => Starting May 2021, we have partnered with Girls Education Initiative Ghana in our efforts to help more girls attain academic and professional success. 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: => Starting 2024, The IBS Scholar Program will award 1,000 GHS to two students per year who demonstrate dedication to humanitarianism and academic excellence. => In 2021, IBS Paid Writing Internships will offer two students an opportunity to improve their writing and assist other students with college applications during the summer vacation.
