Covid 19 started a few weeks after I did. I helped to design a remote access dashboard that enabled hundreds of college campuses worldwide to help display which computers were available for remote connections. This included a page that listed connections but also an in depth administrative user flow to allow our customers to manage the dashboards within our product. This project started out as a rough proof of concept and quickly became something that helped us get through the worst of Covid 19 as a company. As a member of the Lab Stat’s product team I helped design a product process to take ideas and feedback and implement them into our product. Taking those ideas from raw input to prototypes that would be ready to test with users and implemented into the product.I also laid the groundwork for a design system and worked to help refresh the visual branding and feel of the Lab Stats product in conjunction with an ongoing brand overhaul.

During my time at Alliance Health, I helped in a variety of ways.I created a large volume of landing pages, marketing emails as well as many advertisements for lead generation advertisements, product awareness, and external clients. In conjunction with the above mentioned I also designed eBooks and other applicable offers to incline people to join one of 25 health condition specific social networks, and or utilize Alliance Health’s direct to consumer pharmacy services. One of the most important things I did while at Alliance Health was to develop creative processes and design concepts to help meet business needs.During my time at Alliance Health I also got to work on UpWell. As part of that I created some of the icons that will be present, designed article headers, and design the interface for the user facing UpWell chat.

At ClearPlex I got to work on a project called ProtectionPro which creates screen protectors on demand and was at one time in over 200 BestBuy stores in Canada and various locations throughout the US.I designed everything that went on and with the machines when they were shipped out, from the support documents to the stickers that went on the machines, to the graphics that were inside of the app that ran off of a tablet and drove the plotter. Maintained regular communications with the development team in order to ensure that our custom developed app worked without any issues.Maintained and updated Device library which initially provided screen protectors for 40-50 devices, by the time I left supported well over 200. As part of that, I also created a process for how the screen protectors would be designed. In addition to my work with ProtectionPro, I also managed and maintained the corporate website clearplex.com and youtube channel. And created marketing materials to support and build the ClearPlex brand as a high-quality screen protector, and windshield protection film. As part of that, I also was able to re-edit some old videos and update them to reflect the direction the company was going in at the time.I also created a branding kit, and guidelines, and content strategy in order to create a stronger sense of unity between the different and varied products that ClearPlex offers.

As a content manager on LDS.org I was responsible for performing daily, weekly, and monthly updates for the entire site which receives millions of visits each month. I worked with a team of anywhere from 2 to 5 content managers and we divided the website up into various sections.I would create the HTML and CSS markup of the content that was provided by product managers over the different sections of LDS.org and often acted as a consultant to the product managers as to what content to publish on the website. My team and I also enforced visual and editorial standards that were set forth in the style guidelines that werer set forth for LDS.org and the church as a whole. While there I also created various graphics, edited photos, and designed page layouts for LDS.org. I maintained an almost constant communication with our development team that had created our custom made CMS that LDS.org still runs off of to this day, through working with them new features were added that made the day to day work on LDS.org easier.

I worked full-time at the Standard Journal for two years while also attending school at BYUI. I managed all of the paper’s websites (uvsj.com, and well as a few others that are no longer live) and helped to design advertisements for the 3 day a week newspaper. I created ads for the printed newspaper and websites and worked closely with the editorial team in order to train them on updating the website regularly and how vital that those regular updates were to ensure regular traffic and repeat visitors as well as increased visibility in search engines. Because of that training, as well as implementing basic SEO techniques we increased the websites page views from an average of 60,000 views per month up to 100,000 or more per month. Apart from working on the website, and designing ads both print and digital, I was the designer for many of the paper’s special sections. As part of that I often performed the duties of a special sections editor and was responsible for gathering articles, photos, and making sure that the advertisements were put into the special sections.

Scout Camp was the best job ever... except for the fact that it hardly paid anything. But really there are few things more exciting that waking up each morning in the mountains, and helping individuals learn and grow to be come contributing members to society.I was able to teach rifle shooting, wilderness survival, nature, basic first aid, leather working, not to mention making fires without burning down a forest and just how to have fun without video games. As a counsellor and later a commissioner I was also a representative of the camp itself and the Boy Scouts of America.
