I wrote SoftTalk's DOStalk column, which covered the Apple II's operating systems, DOS 3.3 and ProDOS, in fine detail. Columns were anthologized in two books, The DOStalk Scrapbook (written with Bert Kersey) and ProDOS Inside and Out (written with Dennis Doms).

CNS published commodity prices and news using modems and a nationwide phone network before there was such a thing as the internet. I began as a Special Projects Editor developing new ways to distribute the information we produced. Later I became Cotton/Softs Editor and later still one of two Managing Editors.

In between the Peace Corps and Journalism School I worked at my dad's farm equipment dealership for a year (actually, I had worked there summers and after school since I was 10). I decided I liked him too much to be arguing with him all the time.

I was a member of India 100, the 100th group of Peace Corp Volunteers to go to India. We worked in the area of agricultural development in the state of Punjab. I was stationed in Rampuraphul, which is in Bhatinda district. This is without question the best job I ever had.
