The Bektek Group consists of talented colleagues from varied disciplines led by the author. Previously we have investigated, evaluated, and identified promising apps. Recently, I have developed and tested a prototype Real Estate Appraisal App, and submitted patent for same. Currently I am engaging a leading software developer to bring this app to the market. My Real Estate Appraisal app improves upon the accepted best practice, the Sales Comparison Approach, by applying methods from artificial intelligence, statistics, and economics. The prototype app first improves on the selection of the most similar comparable properties, and then makes more comprehensive and more accurate adjustments to over 30 features, resulting in appraisals that are provably more accurate than most human appraisals. The matching and brokering algorithm is based on a novel faceted search/query language engine developed for the Air Force. The engine supports user preferences, similarity metrics, and utility metrics for all features. Prospective matching apps include:1) Finding the best RE properties for a buyer based on characteristics, preferences, and constraints2) Matching contractors to client needs3) Matching job applicants to position announcements4) Selecting the best college based on student grades, tests, interests, preferences, and constraints5) Product selection from alternatives

Partnering with Dr. Art Murray, competed for and won Air Force SBIR Phase I and II contracts to design and develop a Lessons Learned System prototype. As principal investigator, I developed the systems design and knowledge artifacts for the working prototype and managed project development. The project demonstrated notable improvements in database querying and semi-structured search. I also created an Expertise Locator application that analyzes and scores job applicant resumes for use in strategic HR and competency management.
