    I worked with Dr. Wade T. Johnson for two years in my undergraduate research. During my first year we characterized thermophilic M. Centralius that was collected from Centralia, PA. We grew samples under laboratory conditions and extracted the DNA in order to analyze it through PCR gene sequencing as well as thermal analysis with a UV-Vis spectrometer.During my second year we grew Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 cultures. Different anthraquinones were introduced into the A1 site of Photosystem 1 in these samples. The harvested cultures were prepped and characterized by HPLC. This work was done at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.
