Task Lead for the Pathfinder AVHRR Land DST and the NASA GDAAC Shipping/Inventory Group. Tiger Team Task Lead for the processing of the historical NOAA-14 GAC1b data, nine (9) months ahead of schedule, wrote UNIX shell scripts to develop and implement an automated NOAA-14 near-real time processing system. Lead the task to develop UNIX and IDL automated quality control process, processes for logs and reduce the time and the delivery of data products to the GDAAC archive, too meet ATR requirements. Developed and maintain the GDAAC AVHRR internal web site for the management of monthly reports, personnel, procedures and statistics. Consulted NOAA Satellite Active Archive in the development of the SAA on-line ftp services to support NOAA satellite data archives. Lead the development of spreadsheets and GUI tools to track the media, shipping materials, store stock, cabinet inventory and vendors with current inventory, orders, cost accounting and history functions. This has reduced the amount of paper file tracking, to meet ATR requirements.Completed new floor plans, the acquisition of hardware, furniture and training for the shipping group improving working and environment concerns and to support future EOS tasks.Administrative support for performance based contracting, task plans, metrics, bi-annual, monthly and weekly reports, job requisitions, interview/hiring processes and operational schedules.

Task Lead for the Pathfinder AVHRR Land DST, transition to the NASA GSFC/DAAC. Responsible for the production of high quality data sets for the AVHRR sensor and the delivery of all products to the GSFC/DAAC archive. Task includes the scheduling, monitoring and performing quality control for all HDF files, setup and executing all data transfers to the DAAC archive.Provided training classes for various members of the processing team during this period on UNIX systems, commands, shell script programming and operations needed to accelerate the processing schedule. Administrative support for performance based contracting, metrics, bi-annual and monthly reports and operational schedules. ISO 9000 requirements were established for control documents, job and system requirements.Supported GLOBE projects quality control and delivered operational procedures and lessons learned to ATR, Dr. Richard White

Operations Group Leader for the AVHRR Land Pathfinder team started May 1993. Responsible for the end-to-end production for geophysical data sets and ensuring timely production of high quality data, scheduling, quality controls, monitoring processes and the transfer of HDF data products to the GSFC/DAAC. Member of the Land Science Working Group for development of the Pathfinder processes and algorithms and co-authored the lessons learned for EOSDIS. Operations Group Leader for the GIMMS project, coordinate all optical platter duplication and transfers among GSFC, NOAA/NESDIS, JPL/Oceans and GIMMS/923 groups.Operations Group Leader for data transcription of all archived Global AVHRR GAC data tapes to optical platters, in preparation for processing the AVHRR Land Pathfinder using a VAX 11/780, Sony jukebox and RDB on a MicroVAX. Coordinated the transfer of 30,000 data tapes from NCDC, Asheville, NC to GSFC, Englewood, where I managed the group responsible for the sorting and cataloging of the AVHRR GAC data tapes, for the optical transcription task.

Supported the Laboratory for Terrestrial Physics Global Inventory Monitoring and Modeling Study (GIMMS) computer facility. Supported image generation, quality control and analysis for NOAA-7/8/9/11 AVHRR data for the GIMMS project. Interacted with various scientists for custom image generation and training for new users and science staff on various software packages. Support for control of multispectral linear array performance testing and calibration. Support for earth resources analyses and remote sensor evaluation, using quicklook color image and graphics capabilities. Typical applications included Global Inventory Monitoring and Modeling, monitoring of volcanoes and other natural and unnatural phenomena, locust and vegetation indexing. Previous responsibilities included the near-real time aviation flight routing system for a commercial airline, federal Aviation Agency and foreign countries. Nimbus-7 TOMS data was used to determine atmospheric ozone content for Trans-continental flights Assisted the engineering staff in the generation and quality control of engineering logic wire lists and drawings for the fabrication of computer interfaces for the near-real time data acquisition systems.
