Panavision are mentioned here as that's where I started as a camera trainee briefly before committing to working at the Moving Picture Company in Soho. I went back to camera after two years living & working in Soho but remained full time at MPC while I worked on learning the trade of the camera dept. (clapper / loader). I would take time off from work at MPC to assist on (lots of) short films, music videos and commercials as the work was piecemeal and building experience & contacts took time. I worked with 16mm (Arri & Aaton) before moving up to 35mm (Arri 435 & Panavision) but moved to digital cameras completely as that was where I saw things going and I wanted to operate & shoot my own material.

Worked as Trainee Editor on AVID with additional experience in Graphics (After Effects) on commercials & programmes finished at MPC.

Art Department Graphics Designer. Responsible for designing and making key hand props, period signage, vehicle livery & period posters used in set design and 'dressing' throughout the film. Main tasks outside of research, design and fabrication were organising hand props made in the art dept (under my role) for use by the standby props team on set.

    • Art Department Specialist - Graphic Designer
      • Jan 1999 - Dec 2000

Worked under Jonathan Lee (Production Designer) and Kate Grimble (Art Director) and alongside Richard Roberts (set dresser) on series 1 & 2.

  • Eon Productions Ltd
    • Pinewood Studios, London, England
    • Technical Trainee - James Bond #19 - AKA The World is Not Enough
      • Jan 1998 - Dec 1998
      • Pinewood Studios, London, England

Initially worked in the production office at Pinewood Studios running a photocopier / making Tea, before working for Useful Companies, a video technology and playback specialist company, based at Pinewood. Their niche was creating 2D & 3D Graphics for feature films and running those graphics live on set during scenes & takes. My job was setting up and running this equipment under supervision from experienced video professionals. The work was long (days), hard (physical), stressful (it was obvious when you hadn't done something correctly) not very well paid (initially I was only paid travel expenses and had to pinch lunch from the main unit) but the perks of working on a Bond Film are many and I have fond memories of my time on this picture + I learned a lot, which has always stood me in good stead.
