Setting up a pilot to monitor the outplanting of juvenile, cultured Queen Conch using PIT tag technology.The project is financed by WWF Dutch Caribbean, the implementation organization is Stinapa in BonaireWorking together with Carmabi Research Station, Curacao Mangrove Park, and Fishermen of Curacao (KUP) and Bonaire (Piskabon).Field pilots will be performed in Bonaire and Curaçao.Curaçao Sea Aquarium will supply the cultured juveniles.

Based on the success of the small scale hatchery at Carmabi Research Center, assisting in setting up a large scale Queen Conch hatchery at Curacao Sea Aquarium. In cooperation with Professor Megan Davis from Florida Atlantic University. Main objective: improving the natural Queen Conch population by releasing cultured juvenile queen conch in protected areas. A healthy population can support a sustainable Queen Conch fishery. Juvenile Queen Conch can also be used for commercial aquaculture operations for food (conch meat is a delicacy in the Caribbean)
