    I worked once a semester on writing the Albion College Class Notes (news about alums) for the college newsletter Io Triumphe. Although the position only came once per semester, it required me to write a great deal (8,000+ words) in a matter of a weekend or so.It was not a matter of copying down information: I had to examine news releases or obituaries and then synthesize the individual entries in the proper format for the newsletter.

    I worked in the Albion College Herbarium (a collection of preserved plant and fungus specimens) where I research via databases to identify the collection of dried plants (some dating back to 1850).After identifying the specimens and tagging them with their common and scientific names for future reference, I took high-quality photographs of them and sent the images to an off-site server for inter-institution academic reference.
