      The Consultation Coordinator is the main point of contact for all outside proponent business that will have an affect on the Metis Settlement land, culture, membership or future. The primary role of the coordinator is to provide advice or mediate on all activities that involve future and current proponents including, yet not limited to meetings, deliberations and decisions. The coordinator will provide sound, usable, researched advice as requested or required. The coordinator will specialize on traditional use studies and pay preferred focus on the areas designated to be of traditional use. Traditional Land Use is defined as any area of land that is sacred to the Metis people for the purposes of a culturally significant activity or belief. These areas are important to document and record as they are primarily recognized through oral histories passed down from generation to generation and are steeped in the Metis connection to the land. It is of great importance to the Metis that these histories and traditions are not forgotten over the passage of time. Activities viewed as traditional are hunting, trapping, fishing, gathering of medicines and berries. Belief sites are areas used for spiritual gathering sites (historic and contemporary) and burial grounds. Analyze and compile data from federal, provincial, and privateproponent communications.Facilitate Traditional Knowledge Studies, including publicconsultation, data collection, GIS mapping, and expansion ofGeoData maps.Collaborate with Settlement Council to achieve departmentgoals and increase member involvement in consultation.Allocate and maintain all departmental budgets by analyzingoperational efficiencies and completing governmentreporting.
