Senior Designer
-
Aug 2019 - Jan 2022
After working full time for the past eight years post graduation from BA textiles, I decided to take a break and reduce my hours down to three days a week at Whistlefish. This allowed me to have some more time to really enjoy life, and see the full spectrum of things Cornwall had to offer me. I took a pinch pottery course which ignited my love of all things ceramics, and then returned to the team as a Senior designer. I now feel re-invigorated with my passion for design, and I'm excited to explore new design approaches.

Head Of Design
-
Aug 2015 - Jul 2019
As Head of Design I work closely with our MD using budgets and sales analysis to plan future product ranges. I manage a small team of designers and write briefs for artwork, greeting cards, wrapping paper, prints, stationery and other gifts. The artwork we produce in our studio is a mixture of painted and hand drawn original work, which is then scanned and digitally manipulated through adobe suite. Ensuring artwork is print ready with any finishing layers set up for our factories is integral to our design. I also manage and source our incredible artists who are from all over the world, as well as local talent right here in Cornwall. It's a joy to do what you love in a place you love!

As a Designer at Frugi I had a number of jobs that followed the whole design process from beginning to end; my research was conducted in a group setting at the beginning of a design season. This included colour and trend research, new shape research, new product and material enquiries etc. Designs were then draw up from mood boards and our design 'bible' for the season. During my time at Frugi I specialised in character and print design.

I specialise in digital and manual print design. Sales Assistant
-
Feb 2007 - Jul 2008
In this role I was placed both on the shop floor as a sales advisor, approaching people and suggesting complementing items, and behind the till pushing add on sales and opening shop accounts. We were constantly pushed to know the current trends inside out. This job helped me to understand the fast pace in which the trends trickle from catwalk to high street fashion, and how much we subconsciously follow them.
