    *Responsible for the acquisition and custody of all books, periodicals and others in the library by ensuring.*Effective acquisition of most current and up to date reading materials and equipment for the library.*Classification of all reading materials.*Organizing reading materials according to classification.*Preparation, maintain and up dating of catalogues of all reading materials by subject.*Ensure up keep of reference books, periodicals and other books as required.*Keeping correct and up to date records of acquisition.*Issue of library materials and ensure timely return of the issue.*Preparation of all annual estimates for the operation of the library.*Render at all times courteous and disciplined service to all the users of library.*Ensure the library staff too renders at all times courteous and disciplined service to all the users of library.*Circulate through regular bulletins/Information sheets.*Accompanied by synopsis of content of recent books, periodicals and other literature for the benefit of professional staff.*Also prepare subject bibliographies, undertake literature search and indexing of information wherever necessary.*Assist readers in regard to their specific queries and in obtaining information not held in the library.*Administration of all Kurunegala, Kandy, Galle & Matara regional center libraries.*Finding information about e-resources and build up the library as an e-learning centre.
