As the general manager of retail fuel stations onsite in the Dominican Republic, I immersed myself in a new culture and language, which required rapid adaptability. I was specifically tasked with growing the company that, at the time, had the largest presence in the country but one of weakest performance in regard to volume. L• Led the 1K-employee company with an administrative staff of 65 and 7 direct reports; oversaw the $25M EBITDA.• Energized the company through consistent branding, sustainable SOPs, and attracting / retaining some of the industry’s top talent, which set the company up for growth and new-found success.• Personally negotiated with Royal Dutch Shell (now Shell) to secure the country rights to their brand. Added $10M in annual revenue through this deal and improved company ranking from 6th in the country (volume pumped out) to 2nd within my tenure (now ranked #1). • Held direct meetings with the president of the Dominican Republic as well as with Ministers of the Interior and Commerce to lobby for the industry and improve the company’s brand/image. • Seized a strategic opportunity and partnered with legal counsel to negotiate and broker a $72M deal to sell half of the company, exceeding target by 20%.• Participated in monthly P&L walk throughs (review the annual budget, CapEx, and OpEx) and provided guidance on strategy as well as any acquisitions or potential opportunities in the industry as a Board Member.
