    Tallawarra (Energy Australia) power station was commissioned in early 2009. It is a 420 MW gas-fired power station that produces approximately 50% less greenhouse gas emissions than existing coal-fired power stations.Tallawarra was a greenfield site that required design and implementation of systems and processes across all functions. My role was broad in scope and included the commercial management space, providing business support through management accounting, forecasting, financial modelling, reporting, cost analysis, process mapping etc. It also entailed managing in a rapidly changing industry environment of excess generation and cost pressures.

The port of Port Kembla was established in the late 1890's to facilitate the export of coal from the mines of the Illawarra region. The Port now services the industries of steel (import of raw material and steel products), coal (export), general and break bulk cargoes, containers and motor vehicle imports. It is also the principal grain export port for producers in Southern and South-Western NSW.Limited term position required for the purpose of production of the Annual Report, and assistance with the decision and implementation of a new finance system.

The team was positioned between 3rd party IT support providers and Bluescope’s user-base (Logistics hubs across Australia). The relationships with the Logistics hubs and the 3rd party vendors were managed on a daily basis and covered routine support through to ad hoc service requests. The focus of the team was definitely solutions based.
