Overview

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has established itself as a process of choice for international commercial disputes. The IBA-VIAC CDRC Mediation and Negotiation Competition is an innovative type of educational competition combining the arts and skills of mediation and negotiation. Chaired by the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) university teams from around the world are selected to participate in the five-day event with mock mediations, educational programs and social events. The competition simulates legal negotiations with the assistance of a mediator. In an international and interdisciplinary environment, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their negotiation and mediation skills in negotiating a series of real legal problems based on the Willem C. Vis Moot case. In addition, students can benefit from the exchange of experiences with other students and experts from all over the world.
