The Policy Initiative

Overview

The Policy Initiative was established in February 2021 by a group of like-minded experts, researchers, academics, and activists as a result of the challenges facing Lebanon. We position ourselves as a homegrown, independent, non-profit, non-governmental, and secular think tank that aims to produce policy research, engage key stakeholders, inform the larger public, and empower local communities. The work done by The Policy Initiative aims to lead a collaborative effort toward change in policies, incentives, and behaviors of state and societal actors. We seek to build a secular and democratic state that guarantees the sovereignty of the country, protects its borders, and upholds the values of equitable and sustainable growth, social and environmental justice, and accountability. The Policy Initiative's key pillars are: 1) Strategic response to the crisis 2) Sustainable economies and beyond 3) People at the heart of change 4) A state with a mission 5) Leveraging aid for public good 6) Enabling municipalities for effective local development 7) Prioritizing the protection of the environment 8) From stability to engagement
