Overview

The Peace to Peacebuilders (P2P): Strengthening Peacebuilders Resiliency in Crisis Situation is an initiative led by Jamila-Aisha Sanguila with Angel Marie Ysik as part of the Asia Peace Innovators Forum and sponsored by the Salzburg Global Seminar (SGS) and The Nippon Foundation (TNF). Mission “To establish and strengthen a network of resilient peacebuilding practitioners, to access a safe space for listening sessions and meaningful dialogues, and to provide P2P Resilience and Wellness training that promotes wellness among local and global peacebuilders” Vision “To strengthen the resilience of local and global peacebuilders by nurturing the emotional, mental, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being to be an effective, efficient, and equally peaceful peacebuilders.” Background In 2020, we witnessed how the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, and climate crisis exacerbated challenges to peacebuilders at the grassroots level. The local peace practitioners who are delivering immediate humanitarian responses, developing and implementing peacebuilding programmes and activities, and dealing with the long-term sustainability of all these peace efforts in complex and highly intense conflict-affected areas across the world are not invincible to experience anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma. These mental health issues affect them emotionally, mentally, physically, and psychologically and in turn, hampered healthy personal and professional relationships. Although mental health illness is common, it needs medical and alternative interventions to cope with it.
