Overview

Mental Health Frontline provides intensive training that has been specifically developed by mental health professionals to teach Filipinos how to engage and respond to the mental health needs of others both in crisis and non-crisis situations. Similar to CPR and First Aid, where people with no professional medical backgrounds can be trained to assist others in the case of specific medical emergencies, Mental Health Frontline trains people to support someone experiencing a mental health crisis and to direct them to the professional services they need, when necessary. You’ll learn the symptoms and warning signs of the most common mental health issues, such as depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and psychosis. You’ll develop the tools and skills you need to effectively intervene and provide immediate assistance for individuals dealing with mental health issues, such as suicidal ideation, panic attacks, response to a traumatic event, self-harming behaviors, and more. Although you’ll be equipped to provide mental health support to someone in need, in no way does this training permit you to conduct talk therapy or to practice in any professional manner as a counselor, therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist.
