Overview

The Norwegian Film Commission is the national agency with the remit to attract, support and maximise international feature film and television production in Norway. Emerging as a premier location, Norway has hosted some of the largest releases of 2021, including No Time to Die, Black Widow, and Dune The commission provides support and assistance to international producers through all stages of production, fostering connections from international to Norwegian producers, as well as guidance to financing options including the 25% film production incentive. The commission collaborates with national and regional entities, expanding capacity and competency within the screen industry, encouraging tourism and business development all across Norway. Heralded regularly as the world’s most beautiful country, Norway offers a wide-range of diverse and dramatic locations in close proximity. Productions will find an eclectic mix of architecture styles from Hanseatic, to neo-classic, brutalist to art nouveau. The new national opera featuring in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, and newcomers The Twist and Under primed and ready for a chance to feature in a film. Extensive and impressive infrastructure projects make nature both accessible, but in themselves also offer stunning backdrops. Serpentine bends up jagged, alpine mountains, and several of the world’s tallest waterfalls. Unique geological formations like Stadt region in Dune, Trolltunga, Preikestolen (unforgettably portrayed in Mission Impossible : Fallout). Norway is a long country bespeckled with fjords, giving it one of the longest coastlines in the world. While Norway has hosted many large productions of late, there are so many virgin locations that have yet to be captured on film and there is a huge amount of untapped potential. The Norwegian Film Commission is a member of AFCI and EUFCN, and part of the network of Nordic Film Commissions.
