Overview

Madison Main Street is a team of residents, business owners, property owners, and civic leaders working together to ensure that downtown Madison is vibrant place to live, work, shop, dine, visit, and play. Madison Main Street is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization designated by Indiana Main Street and accredited by the National Main Street Center. Madison is one of more than 1,200 Main Street communities across the country with the common goal of preserving America’s historic downtowns as economically vital centers of the community. Madison’s historic downtown district is economically vibrant, with shops, restaurants, and nightlife serving local residents as well as a large number of tourists and visitors. The downtown continues to build on its remarkable architectural heritage, and property owners take pride in restoring and maintaining their buildings. The first-floor vacancy rate is low, and upper stories provide a range of residential options. A robust calendar of events and activities supports a lively entertainment district, with an emphasis on arts and culture, especially the local live music scene. The beautiful, walkable downtown has a palpable sense of community and a friendly, positive vibe that makes everyone feel welcome. Many groups and organizations work together to ensure the vitality of Indiana’s premier river town. We have an active and growing volunteer base that supports both our mission and vision. Madison Main Street works as a resource to businesses and residents in our historic downtown by leading a movement committed to strengthening and revitalizing our community. We welcome new and existing businesses along with residents to our community. Please contact us by email or phone and be sure to follow our social media pages!
