Overview

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford is a private non-profit organization that has provided adult literacy services to the Greater Hartford community since 1972. Annually, we now provide reading, English, and other basic skills education to over 900 adults from 20 towns throughout our region. The hard work of over 200 committed and trained volunteers is what drives this organization. Our mission is to build a stronger, more resilient Greater Hartford by creating a community of fully literate adults. We are an affiliate of ProLiteracy Worldwide and a United Way partner agency that relies on public and private support to expand our reach and meet the vast need for literacy services.
