Overview

Climate change is already affecting our lives, and the consequences will get more serious. Heat waves, floods and damage to crops and forests will increase and force us to adapt to changing living conditions. But we can still influence the extent and severity of climate change! We already know a lot about what needs to be done to help us adapt and reduce CO2 emissions to stop global warming. What we don't know is how individual measures can interact with each other. Or even hinder mitigation, like large adaptation infrastructure projects generating more additional emissions than mitigation measures can compensate for. This is where the European research project KNOWING sets in. KNOWING assesses the interaction of measures in different sectors such as housing, transport or land use. Based on the findings of how measures interact, hinder or support each other, clear pathways are developed that help us make the best possible decisions for climate action. KNOWING wants policy makers, scientists, businesses and citizens to be able to use this knowledge to create a climate-neutral and better world. The guidelines and tools will be freely open to all people. In this way, KNOWING contributes to a sustainable future. A liveable future for you, me and our children.
