The Kigutu International Academy (KIA) is a secondary boarding school that will develop a new generation of problem-solvers, change-makers and entrepreneurial leaders. KIA will open its doors in September 2020 to a cross-section of promising girls and boys from across Burundi who demonstrate strong academic performance and a track record of leadership in their communities. The Academy overlooks Lake Tanganyika in the lush mountains of southwestern Burundi. It is located on the beautiful campus of Village Health Works in the village of Kigutu. The Academy will offer an innovative curriculum and world-class instruction. Students will gain outstanding preparation in core academic subjects, plus the critical skills and competencies needed to lead in a complex and changing world: team-work, communication, critical thinking, entrepreneurship and more. The Academy’s 4-year program will prepare students to lead locally and compete with the best in the world, providing pathways to universities across the globe.
