Overview

WIoT is an interdisciplinary research center, a think tank, and a technology incubator promoting advancement in the area of connected systems and their societal applications and implications. The institute conducts cutting-edge research, delivers new cross-disciplinary educational models, and develops new technologies in connected systems at the intersection between the physical and the digital worlds and on their legal, economic, ethical, and policy implications. WIoT is funded through over $20M per year in federal and industry funding and is home to leading national programs such as the NSF Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research, 56/6G R&D Centers, and leading programs in AI for wireless systems, as well as future spectrum sharing and exploitation at Terahertz frequencies. It has unique experimental capabilities including Colosseum, the world’s largest RF emulator, and Teranova, the world’s only testbed for Terahertz wireless networks. WIoT is home to an FCC Innovation Zone and at the center of a vibrant industry consortium.
