OUR PURPOSE The Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion serves as a partner with each of IU’s campuses to create learning environments that advocate access, success, respect, equity, inclusiveness, and community for all. OUR VISION We strive to be a globally diverse university community where inclusive excellence is embraced, fostered, and celebrated and faculty, staff, and students are inspired to achieve their full potential. COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS The program is designed to help campus and community partners remove educational barriers through college readiness activities. REFRAMING STUDENT SUCCESS The office offers many scholarship opportunities and academic resources to help them. These efforts provide students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, the tools and supports they need to thrive throughout their educational journey. These programs include: 21st Century Scholars Program, Academic Support Center, Groups Scholars Program, Hudson and Holland Scholars Program, Mentoring Services & Leadership Development, Overseas Studies & Scholarship Program, Adam W. Herbert Presidential Scholars Program. EXPERIENCES TO INSPIRE The office supports seven cultural centers on the IU Bloomington campus, with programs and resources to help students find a sense of belonging and the support they need to be inspired and grow. These centers include the Asian Culture Center, First Nations Educational & Cultural Center, Jewish Culture Center, La Casa Cultural Center, LGBTQ+ Culture Center, Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, and the African American Arts Institute. A NEW FRONTIER FOR DIVERSITY As a part of the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Indiana University’s Office of Diversity Education and Cross-Cultural Engagement strives to cultivate an inclusive and culturally rich IU community that values diversity, affirms differences, and embraces learning opportunities for all.
