Overview

Ethiopian Medical Students Association (EMSA) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, students-based organization established in 2003. It operates with the main objective of creating medical doctors that are well rounded, sensitive to current local, regional and global health issues and who are capable of engaging the public to effect profound changes and actively participate in the process of improving the quality of medical education through participation and exchange of students. It aims to empower medical students and advance health care delivery in Ethiopia. The association is a full member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) since 2005 E.C. EMSA-ETHIOPIA shares objectives with IFMSA on making contributions towards the improvement of quality of health. To do this work, EMSA has branches (local chapters) in 16 medical facilities with 10 more under establishment. Mission statement: Become a platform for the personal and professional growth and development of medical students all over Ethiopia. Connect, support and stand for medical students all over Ethiopia in their journey of acquiring medical knowledge and develop their all rounded skills and become a platform for them to serve the community and achieve their goals. Vision statement: Creating an environment in which medical students are well-equipped with all the necessary knowledge and skills so that they may be influential in the betterment of the healthcare system both locally and globally.
