Overview

The Emerging Pathogens Institute was created at the University of Florida in 2006 to provide a world-class research environment to facilitate interdisciplinary studies of emergence and control of human, animal and plant pathogens of concern to Florida, to the nation and to the world. Major areas of research include: - COVID-19 - Vector-borne diseases (Zika, West Nile, Malaria, Dengue, Tick-borne Diseases) - Other viral pathogens (Influenza, HIV) - Tuberculosis/drug-resistant TB and non-TB mycobacterial disease - Enteric and foodborne illnesses - Cholera and other diarrheal diseases - Foodborne disease policy and control - Plant and food crop pathogens - Antibiotic resistance/hospital infection control (MRSA) - Zoonoses
