Overview
The Electronic Information Network (eiNetwork) is dedicated to providing shared technology services to each of the 46 independent public libraries (with more than 75 physical locations) in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. eiNetwork was originally launched as a countywide collaboration in 1996 and incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit member organization in 2002 by the Allegheny County Library Association and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. eiNetwork is funded by the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) to provide technology services and support for the public libraries of Allegheny County through an efficient and effective technology infrastructure. The goal is to help libraries expand and increase their impact, outreach, and service to their communities. Core eiNetwork services provided to libraries include a high-speed fiber network (including secure internet access), PC management, shared bibliographic database and public online catalog, end-user technology support services, and Microsoft 365 services (email, file storage, collaboration and Microsoft productivity applications).
