Overview

The European Biostimulant Industry Council (EBIC)'s mission is to ensure biostimulant technologies are valued as integral to sustainable agriculture, while securing an enabling regulatory framework for all of them, EBIC was founded in 2011 by ten pioneering companies and now counts more than 60 members and growing. Biostimulant n: “Plant biostimulants means a material which contains substance(s) and/or micro-organisms whose function when applied to plants or the rhizosphere is to stimulate natural processes to enhance/benefit nutrient uptake, nutrient efficiency, tolerance to abiotic stress, and crop quality, independent of its nutrient content.” What is our mission? We are seeking an operating environment that creates a truly European market for biostimulants and recognises their contribution to sustainable agriculture, green innovation, economic growth, the circular economy, bioeconomy, and other EU policy objectives. To help achieve these goals, EBIC’s activities revolve around the following priority areas: 1) Securing an EU single market for biostimulants through appropriate regulation 2) Increasing the credibility and reputation of the industry 3) Building markets and fostering demand for biostimulants 4) Ensuring that biostimulants remain on the market until they are regulated at EU level The European Biostimulants Industry Council is composed of a dynamic and rapidly growing community of companies active in Europe that are working with the EU Institutions to build a coherent and predictable regulatory framework.
