The Compagnie Irene K. is a contemporary dance company that was founded in 1977 with artistic direction of Irene Kalbusch. For the creations, she works with professional dancers of different nationalities. The company has adopted a style that can be assigned to contemporary “dance theater”. The choreographies are not narrative; the room opens in all directions, in ever new constellations. The human with his wishes, fears and visions are the basis of the choreographic work. In addition to the stage performances for adults and children, the company Irene K. creates performances for public spaces. Compagnie Irene K. regularly develops educational, creative and interdisciplinary projects. Since 2005, Irene K. has also been organizing the international dance festival "Dance in the city/ Tanzende Stadt / Danse en ville".
