      Die Compagnie Irene K. ist eine zeitgenössische Tanzkompanie, die 1977 unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Irene Borguet-Kalbusch gegründet wurde. Für die jeweiligen Kreationen arbeitet sie mit professionellen Tänzern verschiedener Nationalitäten. Die Compagnie hat sich einen Stil angeeignet, der dem zeitgenössischen Tanztheater zuzuordnen ist. Die Musik wird jeweils zur Choreographie komponiert und mitunter auch live interpretiert. Die Choreografien sind nicht narrativ; der Raum öffnet sich in alle Richtungen, in immer wieder neuen Konstellationen. Der Mensch mit seinen Wünschen, Ängsten und Visionen liegen der choreografischen Arbeit zugrunde. Zusätzlich zu den Bühnengastspielen für Erwachsene sowie für Kinder, kreiert die Compagnie Irene K. Performances für den öffentlichen Raum. Die Besonderheit der Orte und der jeweiligen Architektur werden von den Tänzern aufgegriffen und ausgeschöpft; es entstehen immer wieder neue, flüchtige Bilder, die den Zuschauer überraschen. Die Compagnie Irene K. erarbeitet regelmäßig pädagogische, kreative sowie interdisziplinäre Projekte. Die Compagnie Irene K. organisiert jährlich das Festival Tanzende Stadt.
