Colonial Heights Food Pantry

Overview

The Colonial Heights Food Pantry exists to alleviate hunger and reduce food insecurity in Colonial Heights, Virginia and surrounding portions of South Chesterfield County. Households in need are provided a variety of foods weekly, including shelf-stable, non-perishable essential items as well as an array of fresh fruits and vegetables, a diversity of meat and other protein sources, dairy and deli-prepared items. and an assortment of breads. The Colonial Heights Food Pantry distributes over a half-million pounds of food annually; and our commitment to providing healthy foods is seen in our promise for at least one-third of what we distribute to be fresh produce and other healthy perishables (such as milk, eggs or cheese). Last year, this fresh-food priority resulted in 40% of all that we distribute. Our hunger relief services impact over 140 families every week, and over 1,600 individuals every month. The CHFP distributes enough food to be the equivalent of providing 1260 meals every day of the year. The Colonial Heights Food Pantry is able to make a difference in many people's lives due to the strong community support we receive, critical partnerships for food acquisition such as Feed More (our food bank affiliate), Fischer Jordan LLC, and local grocers of Walmart, Publix, Target and Sam's, and significant grant funding from The Cameron Foundation, John Randolph Foundation and LB Charitable Foundation.
