Overview

The British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches supports individual Mindfulness Teachers and Mindfulness-Based Teacher training Organisations across the UK. We are a team of Trustees, Mindfulness Teachers and experienced individuals from various backgrounds. Soon to gain charity status our constitution objectives are: To reduce suffering and support health and well-being through mindfulness-based approaches. We will achieve this by: Promoting sustaining and increasing individual and collective knowledge and understanding of good practice in mindfulness-based approaches, skills and expertise. Ensuring that it opposes discrimination, is welcoming of diversity and is inclusive, particularly of under-represented groups in the mindfulness community. Establishing, updating and upholding the standards required for safe, effective and ethical mindfulness teaching, supervising and teacher training. Protecting the public by providing clear oversight and transparency regarding the credentials of mindfulness teachers, supervisors and trainers and teacher training organisations. Identifying and protecting the core components of a mindfulness-based programme whilst encouraging well-reasoned innovations that lead to effective and safe teaching approaches. Using the evidence base to educate and engage with the public regarding the applications and benefits of mindfulness. Connecting mindfulness-based practitioners for the purpose of sharing best practice and building community.
