Overview

BKP Economic Advisors is an economic research and consulting firm owned and managed by its five partners, and with a core staff of about thirty experts. The company was established in 2006 and is based in Munich and Berlin (Germany) with associates in Canada, Ethiopia, Ghana and the Netherlands. Since establishment, BKP has completed more than 100 projects, research and lecturing assignments for governments, institutions and academia. Donors for which we have worked include the European Commission, international development banks (the World Bank, the Inter-American and African Development Banks), a wide range of bilateral donors (Belgium – BTC, Canada – CIDA, Denmark – Danida, the Netherlands – Minbuza, Sweden – Sida, UK – DFID, and USAID); in addition, we have implemented projects funded by the clients directly, such as the European Commission’s DG Trade or the Government of Rwanda. Annual turnover has been above USD 2.5 million since 2014. BKP specialises in a limited field of services where we believe to have a distinct know-how: - International trade and regional integration (incl. WTO accession and negotiations, trade remedies, trade in services, etc.); - Investment promotion (incl. investment climate assessments, competitiveness studies, etc.); - Private sector development (incl. competition policy, public-private partnership, support to the informal sector, micro and SME finance, etc.). In each of these fields, we provide assistance at the micro, meso and macro levels (with a focus on the latter two). A particular focus is on the preparation of studies as well as monitoring and evaluation. At the meta level, our services cover public procurement, donor co-ordination and aid harmonisation.
