Overview

The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) is a professional body for Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners. Its primary function is to assist its members in attaining the highest standards of integrity, knowledge, competence and professional practice, in order to protect the client’s interests, nutritional therapy and the Registered Nutritional Therapist. BANT practitioner members are required to be registered either with Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) or be statutorily regulated. CNHC holds a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA), an independent body accountable to the UK Parliament. Full Membership requires qualifications from a level 6 diploma course or BSc or higher degree level course accredited by NTEC. BANT offers a wide range of benefits to student and full members and has its finger on the pulse for any changes or new developments within this dynamic profession. VISION: To champion professional excellence in the practice of nutritional therapy and drive industry policy to ensure the availability of nutritional therapy as a primary healthcare option. MISSION STATEMENT: BANT's mission is to: 1) act as a professional body for nutritional therapy practitioners and those working in the wider application of nutritional science; 2) promote high standards of education, training, practice and integrity in the nutrition profession; 3) promote the application of nutrition science for optimum health, disease prevention and patient care; 4) work towards the goal of having nutritional therapy available to all on the National Health Service.
