Overview

The Australian Association of Social Workers is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia, with more than 16,000 members. It was formed as a national association in 1946 and has since supported its members through the profession's many developments and changes. On behalf of the Australian Government, the AASW also accredits Mental Health Social Workers for eligibility for the Medicare Provider Number and assesses social work qualifications for migration purposes.
